About & Contact

Hey There! My name is Gillian. I'm a 21 year-old girl living in my rural New Hampshire hometown. I'm a restless old-soul, a mover and do-er, and most proud of my gritty tendencies.

I started this blog in 2012 as a homeschooled Freshman, for the simple reason that I loved writing (and let's be real: talking about myself) and had fallen in love with scrolling through the archives of some of my favorite bloggers. I loved the idea of recording your day-to-day in such a cohesive way; of creating what's essentially a portfolio of not only your work and your projects but your whole life. Today, 5 years later, it's still that recording and cataloging that keep me coming back.

After graduating high school in 2015, I knew I didn't want to go to college right away. A life long figure skater, but having only taken it seriously starting around age 15 or 16, I decided to instead join the workforce and continue training. I was an assistant manager in retail for a year and a half, until fall 2016 when I switched gears and started working as a special education para-educator at our local high school.

Right now, I'm enjoying a full life consisting of my work in special education, working at Home Ice Boston sharpening and fitting skates, and still doing my own training as I finish up my USFSA Freestyle tests. I currently compete in Showcase competitions and in Theater on Ice with my team, Act 1 of Boston, and coach beginner skaters in group and private lessons. I love yoga, am an aspiring runner, and an avid Austenite. My favorite ways to catch up with friends is either over coffee or while hiking one of NH's beautiful 4000 footers. To recharge, I turn to tea, Bridget Jones Diary, naps, and church.

As I'm moving through this life and figuring out my place in it, I've learned that life is not an answer we find or a box to check off. I am excited by my life and all the possibilities it holds--and am finally embracing the adventure of thinking, trying, failing, and trying again. As a verbal processor, this blog has been my spot to think about and express the narrative of my life. While my posting consistency has varied over the years, I am excited to be back full-force to this space in 2018.

In 2018, you can expect to hear from me every single Monday, with some bonus posts thrown in as stuff needs to be written. In real life, I talk a lot about goals, creativity, skating, books, and sitcoms, so you can expect that here, too.

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to read this! Remember: this moment is your life. Be the grittiest.
